short stay in August
San Martín, Spain
San Martín is a very small village in the mountains in asturias of which there are many I'm sure. Im just here to get out of the city and enjoy the mountain air. It would provide a good base for some serious treaking. There are some cool caves which we have visited but treaking seems to be the main reason for visiting these parts. Took a drive around today, the hill tops are cloud hidden, very picturesqe. Some nice views as you wind up and down the hills, Maria was a little scared of the steep hills. There are cows wearing bells grazing on the hills, real heidi stuff. Its a place of great biodiversity and it looks like not much has changed here in a very long time. Had dinner last night in one of the two restaurants here. Honest food - 3 coursses for 8 euros- I've often paid 40 and had worse... All-in- all nice place, If you plan on visiting bring your treaking gear. Ohh ya, I almost forgot this is bear territory. I was a little spooked at first but the locals told me that they are very elusive and if i should see one I could consider myself very very lucky!!
