So we finally made it to Thailand after 3 flights, 7 hrs in Bangkok airport and a small taxi ride to our hotel. We decided to head straight down to Koh Samui due to the fact that 3 of Kate's mates from home came out to see her. So i was travelling with 3 girls.. cant be too bad eh! lol. So after lots of screaming and excitment from them we headed to the beach to top up our tans! The next few days just consisted of lots of lazying aroung getting hot and then out to party at night.
The first night being rather eventful. Im sure you've heard all about the infamous "Buckets" that they sell over here. Well they consist off a small, hipflask size bottle of Sansum whisky and 2 bottles of redbull. This isnt normal redbull though its sold in cough medicine bottles and is like a syrup, the stuff is evil and im sure it makes you mentla and phsically incapable of looking after yourself as our found out that first night. We ate dinner on the beach that night... noodles (Paad Thai) and thai green curry, which is what ive lived off since, due to it being rather good but also only about 1 pound a meal! We then thought it would be fun to get on the buckets not realising how bad they are. After some drinking gmaes with the girls and some random Ozzies, me, Jess andJen decided to carry on into a club! The only things i really remember from then was watching chelsea win with a ranom german/dutch guy, losing the girls, being harrassed by a group of thai girls/guys!? and losing my phone then spending roughly an hour trying to find my beach hut resort!! Good first night eh!
After a couple of days on Samui we decided to get the boat and head to Koh Panghan. Again this is a very relaxed place, where you have dinner on the beach on mats and small little tables, where the beach is covered with little lanterns and they have fire shows, where men and women are spinning balls and sticks of fire! Pretty impressive! You also get small thai children trying to sell you flowers and play you at connect 4! Do not play cause you always lose even though these kids are about 5 as i found out the hard way losing a couple of times! Later on as the beach gets a little busier they bring out a big skipping rope and set it on fire and encourage epeople to jump it! Oviously who setps up.... yep me, the idiot!! I thought it would be a good idea, however as i started jumping and doing rather well, this is the gospel truth, my shorts begin to fall and the end up round my ankles when the rope comes over and smacks me in the head setting what little hair i have on fire for a split second!! Dont think ill be doing that again for a while!!
Spent some more days chilling during the day and another big, sweaty night out, where it was spinksy's turn to get a little worse for wear, it ended up with me holding her hair back whilst she was being sick in the loo!! An experience i dont really want to have to experience again! We ended up spending a good week with the girls on their last day with us we decided to do some cultrual stuff which was good fun! We got to ride an elephant, which wasnt completely comfortable, then learnt how to cook thai curry, went to on e of the waterfalls for a swim and saw a trained monkey, by the name of Mike, get coconuts down from a tree! The next day the girls left, Kate was a little sad and she had now actually made the decision to go home early! I did try to change her mind but she was just missing home too much and had, had enough! So we had around 10 days left. These first 2 weeks were very different from what we experienced during the rest of our travels but im very much looking forward to the rest and getting out there and doing some things. We thought we would go see some more islands and headed to Phi Phi...
