Anybody who knows me well, knows that heights just aren't my thing. However some time ago, while researching 'Spain', Tony discovered a walkway in southern Spain called El Caminito Del Rey, or the Kings pathway. Often dubbed the worlds scariest footpath, it was originally built in 1905 to provide a path for workers at the hydroelectric power plants at Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls with a means to inspect and maintain the channel.
Over the years the walkway had fallen into disrepair with sections where part or all of the concrete top had collapsed leaving large gaps bridged only by narrow steel beams. After several fatal accidents the walkway was closed in 2001, reopening in March of this year following a €9 million restoration, (can you imagine my excitement). The newly formed wooden walkway is one metre wide and rises over 100 metres above the river. The scenery on the seven kilometre walk is reported as being spectacular and with 'only' 1.5 kilometres of boardwalk I have agreed (perhaps foolishly) to give it a go. I have stood shaking at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris (301 metres) and challenged myself about three years ago to climb the Sydney harbour bridge (134 metres) so in theory this should be a breeze (maybe!), time will tell I guess.

Scott I blame Tony, it was probably all his idea, but it does look like fun
