You stay classy Vienna
Not even really on the radar, Vienna was a last minute addition to the itinerary. More out of convenience than anything else, Tom and I wanting to maximize our time and avoid any disgustingly long train rides. Proving the first time but not the last, that unplanned adventures more often than not work out in your favor.
Words cannot even describe it. For amateur shutterbugs like Tom and I, getting anywhere the first couple of days took probably 5 times as long as it should have due to us wandering around like slack jawed yokels staring up at one piece of breathtaking architecture after another. It got to a point, after 12 or so hours, that it became overwhelming, our traveller brains simply could not process any more sights or information. So when that point came, we stopped in one of vienna's seemingly endless beer halls. One to note in particular was Seven Star Brewhouse. And Seven Stars it was definitely worth having. Though the names comes not from the quality but of the number of beers brewed onsite. One litre sized heavy mugs filled to the brim with the brew of your choice. I opted to try the Hemp Beer, and it did not disappoint. No, it did not produce any THC like effects, like some of you may be thinking, though there was a slight unmistakeable aroma. We noticed Boar's Head on the menu, and assumed it was a dish made with meat from the head portion, a case of lost in translation. When it was delivered to the table next to us, we were to learn than no, in fact it was a whole boar's head on a plank to which the party at said table dug in with glee. We stuck to our schnitzels thank you very much. Food, beer, atmosphere, conversation, all were stellar, and made for a great way to process all of the amazing things seen throughout the day.
