Monday 15th February
At Sea.
I joined one of the craft classes today and made a bracelet of tiny seed beads and floss thread. I use seed beads in some of my work, especially earrings, but have not used thread before. It was an easy 'stitch' to learn and resulted in a very pretty zig zag chain of colour (I chose sky blue beads). There are three craft tutors all doing different classes and one art tutor doing drawing/watercolours. I wonder how they get paid, or if they get a free cruise? They only work on 'At Sea' days and do one (sometimes two) 1 hour sessions and on 'Shore' days they get to be excursion escorts. I could do that!
There was another emergency medical disembarkation this evening and we sailed close to the coast at Recife for it to take place. The announcement was made over the PA by the Customer Services Manager who sounded upset. We heard later that it was a 21 year old crew member with a heart problem. Until then we had just assumed that it was another elderly passenger with a health problem. The ship appeared to be stationary for several hours before we were underway again.
