MATT: So we are a bit behing on the blog...Kel is still trying to finish writing about Oz and I am trying to get a bit of NZ done. I am about two weeks out of date...so bear with me if some of the details seem a bit fuzzy.
We were put up (very kindly) by Sarah and Tim (Sarah and ex E&Y collegue of Kel) at there very nice house in a suburb of Auckland. Immediately we got a good feeling about NZ....very chilled, nice people, good climate - not as hot as Oz but sunny all the same - plus considerably less things that will bite you, poison you, sting you or eat you than Oz....seems generally like a much more sensible place.
We buzzed through a couple of days in Auckland, the main event being climbing a volcanic island (Rangitoto) in the harbour which gives an amazing view of the city and the bay islands, eating dinner with Sarah and Tim and then making a new friend...namely our camper van which will be our home for the next six weeks. I christened it Casper (cause it is white and friendly and a spirit model) - it is a converted VW panel van - and perfect for our needs. It transported us quickly out of Auckland and North to the Bay of Islands for our first night as gypsies....
