Today's adventure took us by train to Arashiyama, an area of Kyoto known for its zen gardens, temples, bamboo forests and monkeys. Yep, I said monkeys!! And we saw it all. How beautiful the view of a zen garden with contemplative rock gardens to gaze at from the tatami mats of the temple. How luscious the forests of bamboo, and oh how tall and peaceful. We stopped for tea at one of the gardens and enjoyed the Japanese hospitality. The highlight for me was the hike to the top of a viewpoint to visit some wild monkeys. This was another special experience, though by the end of our day we both realized we were done! The temperature was 27 Celsius in the sun, so just enough to get you hot and dehydrated! Thank God for ice cream to cool us down and cold beer served in vending machines. Yes, you can even drink it in public! Sophisticated civilization! Kombbanwa....goodnight from Osaka!

Michelle Any photos of the monkeys? Do you know what kind of monkeys? As a non-beer drinker, beer and ice cream just don't seem like a tasty combination. Am I wrong? I suppose it depends on the flavour of ice cream. Was it wasabi? ;-)
carol god bless you both, enjoy!
