Tag 9: Gestern sind wir im Frog & Catfish Restaurant, Bar and Lodge in der Nähe von Ao Nang angekommen. Die Anlage ist fantastisch (s. Bild).
Day 9: Yesterday we arrived at the Frog & Catfish Restaurant, Bar and Lodge close to Ao Nang. The whole place is simply fantastic (cf. photo). It took Gary and his wife Bua 7 years to create this little paradise. Uncountable little ponds and creeks are crossed by tiny bamboo bridges and the vegetation is so dense that most of the time you have the impression that you're all alone here. Today Gary organized a little boat excursion for us. We visited some little islands off the coast of the Krabi Province. Trish and I were again flabbergasted by this fabulous playground that Mother Nature created here for us. Vertical rocks rise out of an emerald sea surrounded by little white beaches. In the rocks there are often openings through which our little boat could pass to discover little lagoons hidden from view. We snorkeled at the base of giant cliffs which continued under water as well. Two little islands were connected by nothing but a beach and when we snorkeled around one of them we saw parrotfish, zebrafish and uncountable little coral fish. Anemones and various kinds of hard and soft corals populated the under water rock face. Our means of transport was an ancient fishing vessel - a longtail boat. The engine needed a lot of persuading to start each time and once our friendly host had to jump the spark from a neighboring boat. Not 10 yards from our home harbour the engine finally died for good. Only many and wildly executed starts could get us to shore.
