Canberra, Australian Capital Territory
This is it, my home. The small town of Canberra has been my home for as long as i can remember. And yes it is a small city compared to its lavish neighbour Sydney and the southern metropolis of Melbourne, even though it's the political centre of this great Australian land. Yes, this town of 500,000 is the capital city of the biggest island in the world. And I am so very proud of it.
Often labelled "boring" and "good only for the annual flower festival and the legalised selling of X rated porn" (two opposite ends of the spectrum, I know,) Canberra is undoubtedly a very exciting city. What it lacks in adventure and joy it makes up in beauty and peace.
The sprawling suburbs and mountainous terrain is a border for the beautiful sunsets and amazing cloud formations. I obviously haven't seen much of the world :-) But to the old at heart, and the actual old people, this place is fantastic. Have a few teas at a friends house, eat some scones then go to bed. I'm 19 years old and that's what my friends and I call a night out. Now i know you might be asking, why is he having a go at Canberra if he says "it's exciting and I'm so very proud of it." There's no sarcasm involved, i really am proud and this place has taught me so much about myself and others. But it's almost time Canberra lets me go from its clenched doyley and releases me to world that's at my doorstep. 15 days.
This is only the start, follow me as I record my journeys for the whole world to see. 15 days and counting :-)
