Luang Namtha
We took our first local bus in Laos to Luang Namtha. It took us 3 hours but it was pretty horrible. The road was in very bad condition and it was a mountain road so the bus ride was like a ride in Disney. In the bus every Lao woman throw up all the way to Luang Namtha and in the end the bus was full of vomit! It was so disgusting!
We were happy to change town after spending one week in Huaxay. Also, we couldn't wate to eat some western food; for dinner we had hamburgers and French fries! Luang Namtha is a small town and very relaxing place. We rented bicycles and visited a village nearby.
Luang Parang
After 2 days we took a bus to Luang Parang, a UNESCO World heritage site. Due that it is a UNESCO site the prices go up very fast. Everything was expensive from guest houses to food, and it doesn't help that every other tourist is more than 60 years old and have a lot of money to spend. One thing we noticed right way was that the climate changed pretty radically. We weren't anymore in the mountains so it was very hot. We also met almost everybody in Luang Parang who visited the restaurant in Houxaye.
One day we took a tuk tuk to a waterfall nearby. It was pretty amazing place. We could swim, even though the water was freezing.
The best way to visit the towns is renting a bicycle. We had done it many times in Thailand and we rented also in Luang Parang. The town is really beautiful place, the Mekong River passes through it and the city looks really old and historical.
