Sitting back at the backpackers waiting for the good doctor to turn up (dont worry mum, im talking about Luke). I was generous and bought the first round to help him get the over jetlag, 4 beers for 12Y, (under $2). He can get the next round.
2 nights ago i met an English lady (Sarah believe it or not) and a French-Canadian who Simon and Wayne woke up a few times the night before. They were both good fun and i ended up running into Sarah at 798 art district. It was great to speak to someone during the day. We ended up going out for dinner and drinks. I thought it would be harder for people being with someone working exploratiion, but her boyfriend is in southern Somalia working in emergency aid...... dam that for a joke. 6 weeks on and 2 off!! She is a teacher, who works selling toothbrushes as there is better money doing that in the UK, over here presenting her thesis (on teaching not teeth). Funny night with more live music and mulled wine, but the wait staff only knew it as hot red wine drink, same same.
The art district is amazing, i spent the whole until 3:30ish i think. I could go back again.
Ive also made it to a few more sites, i saw the 4 of 12 recovered animal heads that were stolen from the old Summer Palace. i wanted to see them as i know the story and they didnt look that impressive. Amazing story where the chinese are trying to buy tthem back on the black market. (poly-art museam).
The temple of heaven was a great walk in the park as was the old Beijing wall. Its very humbling not speeaking for days as you cant commmunicate.
Im getting use to being stared at and photos some times, there are not many non-Chinese over here. They have a massive internal tourism, its unbelieveable!!!
I will be trying the Chinese spirit to keep me warm Yong, its on the cards. Thanks for ll the help.
