I've finally arrived in London! After 24 hours in transit, I am grateful to be sitting down to my first English breakfast at a cafe right near my hotel.
It seems to be a lovely sunny-ish day but the wind is cold and I think I should've brought my coat. Oh well.
The cafe I'm sitting at is full of Aussies. The buildings around Russell Square are beautiful and old and there's a little red phone box staring at me from across the road. I don't know if I'm brave enough to go over and try to figure out how it works. I'll let you know how that turns out.
I think I shall investigate a sightseeing tour of London whilst I wait for my hotel to let me in. I have 4 hours to burn...
My day of adventuring turned out to be quite an adventure! The bus tour was pretty cool, only got half of it done though. I met a girl on the bus, also from contiki (not my one) called Cassie. Now Cassie and I decided it would be a good idea to go in a river cruise and check out London Bridge and the Tower of London. 7 hours after our bus tour started, I found my way home on the train, utterly exhausted! Good day though, good day :)
So checked into my hotel 4 hours late, but no matter. Met my rommie Emma who's doing the same tour as me. She's from Melbourne and quite lovely and chirpy. We went to the pub for dinner after the boys (whom she had met at the airport, also on our tour) piked it and didn't come out. We were advised by some local lads that the chicken Kiev at the pub was the way to go after they poo-pooed all of the other 5 choices on the menu (only 6 choices?!) We decided against their advic and with the safe option of a bowl of chips and a vodka/cranberry each.
I am now completely exhausted and am going to bed.
