Our bus journey from Penang to KL only took 5 hours so it was quite enjoyable. When we got there we checked into our hostel which was nice and clean and in Bukit Batang which seemed to have lots going on nearby so we were happy. We only got there in late afternoon so we just walked around in the evening checking things out and then went for dinner at a nice Australian restaurant.
The next day we got up early and went to Mederka Square. Navigating around KL is rather impossible as there is an underground, train, monorail and then buses to take. It was all a bit confusing at first but eventually we got used to it. Mederka Square is really picturesque and it has lots of colonial buildings surrounding it which we found very interesting. After that we tried to go the National Museum nearby but found out it had closed down! We then made our way by bus to Batu Caves which are really large caves with 272 steps to the top where there is a Hindu Temple. We really enjoyed the caves because there were so massive and interesting. It was also surrounded by monkeys! They were everywhere and at first we thought they were really cute and took photos, but we soon found out they were really vicious and tried our best to avoid them! At the top the Hindu Temple was amazing and there is an open cave looking into the sunlight which was beautiful. At the bottom there is a gold buddha which is one of the largest in the world and that too was really cool.
After the caves we headed to Berjaya Times Square Mall which is a huge shopping mall in KL with an indoor theme park. Needless to say we bought a ticket and enjoyed the rides! There wasn't loads of rides but some of them were actually quite scary and a lot of fun was had by both of us! We then went for some dinner and headed home to watch some movies in the common room.
The next day we went to the Petronas Twin Towers which is the photo for this blog. You have to go early and buy the ticket and get to go up a few hours later which is pretty good considering its free. You only get to go up to the bridge in the middle though which isn't that high and after taking the usual photos we were ready to go! We then went to Chinatown and had a look around which was fun. We also to Central Market there which just had lots of little shops and stalls and was quite interesting to just have a browse around. We then decided to head to Lake Gardens as we had heard it was stunning. We eventually made it to the Bird Park which is the largest one in the world. We managed to see a really cool bird show where the birds did all sorts of tricks and had races and it was quite funny to watch. We then looked round the park which had some stunning peacocks, pelicans and flamingos. There was also lots of ostriches and leaves to feed them with which we did although they were abit scary and just attacked your hand for the food! We really liked our time spent at the bird park as it was really beautiful and relaxing.
As we only had 2 days in KL we didn't have time to explore very much but we enjoyed our time whilst we were there. We left early the next day to head to Singapore!
