Today we visited the Louve - 18 kilometres of museum. It is an incredible place with so much to see. Apparently if you were to spend 30 seconds looking at every piece of art in the Louve, you would be there for 9 months. So I saw the infamous Mona Lisa, but there were so many other things that were just as impressive(Aphrodite & Cupid just to name a few). We got lost in the Ancient Egypt section which has some incredible things to see.
It was so hot in Paris - 41 degrees when we got to Paris yesterday afternoon at 5:00pm and today was just as bad.
We then set off to the Eiffel Tower. Now as I mentioned in the last blog, getting tickets was a bit of an issue so we got there at our set time and waited and waited. We eventually made it into the lift to take us to the first level. Well, the view was amazing, but it took me a little while to let go of the scaffolding to actually get near the edge!! I honestly didn't think I would be that worried, but I think it was the whole standing on metal that I could see through the gaps that did it. So I chickened out and after all the ticket hassle, didn't even go to the top of the Eiffel Tower!!!!
In the afternoon we took a guided bike ride around Paris to see some more of the sights.
We then got to have a picnic under the Eiffel Tower for dinner. After dinner I got a little 'cultured' and went to a caberet show. Let's just say I've seen it now and I wouldn't likely see one again. It is just a whole lot of people in extravagant costumes dancing around on stage. There was no story line and lots of boobs and lycra! As they say, when in France!!!!!
Till next time,
Nic
