I woke up after a much better nights sleep under a warm duvet and went to the cafe next door for the cooked breakfast we had all ordered. Then we boarded the bus and set off through the beautiful Lao countryside. On the way we stopped to visit another village. In this village the houses were built on the ground instead of on stilts. Once again the children slowly came out to peep at us. They gathered in a little huddle and nervously smiled at us. They only came close to look at a photo we had just taken of them. This made them giggle, they loved looking at pictures of themselves. We spent about 20 minutes there before heading back to the bus. After a few hours we arrived in Nong Khiaw. We were staying in wooden bungalows on stilts next to the Ou River. It was back to basic accommodation as it was a long drop toilet again. When we had unpacked we went five minutes down the road to explore a cave. The cave was called the Phathok Cave. It is famous for having had government meetings in it during the American bombing of the area during the 1960's. We walked across a field and then had to climb up a couple of steep ladder like steps to the opening of the cave in the side of a mountain. The cave was really big and spacious. There was a section closed off where the government meetings used to take place and you could see where they had made a table. Back in the 60's there would have been many people living and hiding in the cave. We then climbed back down the stairs and went back to our accommodation.
Fabienne, Lizie and me went to a restaurant across the bridge where they also served western food as well as local food. I had burger and chips. They also were showing a film so we watched that for a little while. We then went to find the others that had gone to the Indian restaurant. Some people then went for a masage and the rest of us went back to our guesthouse where they had lit a camp fire for us. We sat around the fire and some local people played the guitar for us. After a while we all said goodnight and went to bed.
