Hello everyone,
Well this is going to be my very last journal entry of our around the world trip! We only have 2 days left until we fly back to sunny swindon! We are looking forward to coming home very much now! We miss roast dinners, clean water, clean toilets and bathrooms, a wardrobe, and most of all -everyone at home!
We have finished our journey through Vietnam and it was definatly an experience! Nothing like any other place - thats for sure! The country is beautiful and the local villages and country side are just so great and the highlight of our trip but the people........ where do i start - they are the rudest people on earth! They will try 24 hours a day to rip you off and get every penny they can! People will just barge you off the street, try and run you over with millions of mo-peds, shoo you out of their shops, charge you ridiculous prices for everything just because we are western! it got very tiring and we tried to hide from the locals towards the end! hee hee! still we had alot of fun, learnt alot and had a good time! After Hoi An we went to Hue, Hue was really nice, we did a boat tour down the perfume river and saw many temples and pagodas. We also had lunch with a little family, they couldnt speak a word of english but we managed to get my on hand actions and pointing! We also visited the citadel, this was very beautiful too. alot of it had been damaged in the war though so some of it wasnt original. That night we had another night train, it was about 14 hours i think but we kept busy with lots of card games!
Our final destinataion in Vietnam was Hanoi, the capital. It is also a very big city with lots of people and mopeds, we liked it alot more than Saigon though. From here we took another boat trip out to the beautiful Halong Bay, it was brilliant. reminded me alot of Thailand with all the big limestone cliffs and beautiful scenery. We went swimming in the sea and stayed on a little island. The next day we went back to Hanoi and our tour finished. We said goodbye to our lovely group and everyone headed off in different directions. we still had 4 days left in Vietnam so we did a city tour ( saw lots more temples - im not seeing anymore for a while now, we are templed out!!) and we did some souvenir shopping!
So now we are back in Bangkok which is great because we have missed Thai food so much! Thai food has got to be some of the best food in the world! Thai people are great too, very polite and so friendly. You really do notice it after spending 3 weeks in Vietnam! So anyway now we are going out for food with our Sweedish friends Ulrika and Joakim so that will be very nice!
We just want to say a quick thank you to everyone for keeping in contact with us while we have been away, we have really loved to hear from you all and it has been so nice knowing that you have all followed us around the world! Maybe we have given some of you ideas for the future. We have had the chance of a lifetime being able to travel and it really has been so fantastic. We just cant say how great it has been and how lucky we are to have visited so many countries and to have done everything that we have done! Im sure we will remember this for the rest of our lives and its so strange that next week we will be back to reality at home and at work. Im sure it wont be long until our next trip, we have the travel bug now. Once you do it once you want to see the whole world!
So we will see you all very soon, next week infact!
Miss you all,
Lots and lots of love Victoria and Matt x x x x
