We left Kangaroo Island today heading towards Robe via Victor Harbour and the wine-growing region of Langhorne Creek. The drive was mainly through cattle and sheep country interspersed with vineyards.
We stopped at about 3 cellar doors along the wine route. As I was the designated driver, it was up to Wendy to try the local tipple. A kind woman called Debbie took pity on us after she heard our money woes and have us 2 free bottles of wine that they'd opened for wine tasting! That was really generous and greatly appreciated!
At 5pm we approached Meningie, a tiny town on the banks of the River Murray. Found a motel for the "budget" price of $100. Watched the sunset, flanked by the groups of cockatiels, ducks and the odd pelican or two - it really was beautiful. Not much else happening there and could only find 2 places that were open after 7pm - greasy chook burgers and fat chips. Oh, how we miss the food we had in Asia!
