Bye bye Bali! After Friday's aquadream snorkelling adventure, I took a shuttle bus to Sanur so I could be close to the airport for my 6:20 AM departure to Singapore.
Stayed at Bintang Bungalows - at $20, it was the cheapest place I could find with a swimming pool although it didn't have hot water. Sat on the beach in the afternoon under the shade of some trees and put my headphones on so I could "politely" ignore the beach vendors without having to engage in conversation - like a "do not disturb sign" - it seemed to work!
The beach in Sanur is really long and lined in parts with traditional colourful boats, so it's quite picturesque, although not as clean or quiet as Lovina in the north. Nevertheless, I am glad I came here as it is much quieter than 24-hour-party-people Kuta.
Having grown tired of haggling constantly, I found a department store called Hardy's where I could happily browse and look at things with price tags. Bought plenty of colourful Indonesian batik-style fabrics and some Bali coffee. Although I'm curious about the taste of Luwak coffee (that's the coffee beans which are consumed by the civet cat and then pooped, cleaned and roasted!), I couldn't justify spending £10 on only just 50g of the stuff.
This week on my own has been good as I've had a good mix of "me-time" an socialising. Now, I feel ready to take on the epic 5-week trip through Australia... Yay!
