Hallelujah, today we got some sun! Ok, so this turns out to be a blessing as well as a curse because I have somehow managed to burn both my hands quite badly in San Ramon. The sunburn is at a really weird angle and I have figured out why - it's from swinging the kids all day long at the orphanage! So, now I am happy that the sun is out but worried that it'll burn my hands even further. Thank God for factor 50 suncream.
In the course of events, we find out that this sunshine will be shortlived and that another vicious storm is heading this way on the weekend. We decide to cut our losses and pay the extortionate £130 to get our flight changed so we can leave early as we don't want to be stranded if and when it floods again. Besides, being stuck indoors in a tropical downpour ain't my idea of fun!
So, this being our last full day in PV, we decide to head to the beach - the surfer's beach up the road where we watch another afternoon storm rolling in from the sea. At dinner, we head off with Andrew to Koki Beach, a stunning bar/restaurant, opposite the beach in central PV. The decor is simple, colourful and really captures the vibe of the area. The food is exceptionally good, fresh and full of flavour (you know, they're not shy to use things like garlic, spices and lime!). We had yucca chips with guacamole and sea bass ceviche as starters to share. For mains, everyone ordered fish and we were certainly not disappointed - the seared tuna with honey sesame sauce was delicious! The cocktails were innovative and strong - I even tried a passionfruit daiquiri! We had a great night and, to top it off, Andrew treated us and paid for the meal - what a sweetheart!
