Siem Reap has been so fun, heading for Angkor Wat at 4am Saturday morning, stumbling through the pitch black temples then sitting in front the pond listening to the crickets and the frogs leap around waiting for the sun to rise was like nothing I've ever seen before. I took "7 wonders of the world" as a kind of expression but it really was immensely beautiful. Angkor thom was probably my favorite as we were able to climb to the top and the carvings on the walls were incredible.
After Angkor wat we headed for the old market in Siem Reap then to Angkor What bar in the evening for some St Patrick celebrations, it was a crazy night where Holly and I started a band with some French guys me on the tambourine and her on the triangle ha ha!
I woke up on Sunday with a call from Mam Sitha telling me to cancel my bus ticket coz she wanted me to come out with "The family". Mam Sitha, Mara, Bun and Sophea are my new adopted family and Sophea n Bun get great joy out of confusing the Khmer people telling them I'm their white skinned sister and how they want to be as white as me lol (ironic, as I'd do anything for even a slight tan!)
So that afternoon we went on one of Mam Sithas mystery tours as I like to call them as no matter how many times I ask she never tells me where she is taking me. We headed for Angkor Wat where we watched the sun set and meet the monkeys who peed all over Mam Sithas windscreen ha ha. We then headed back to sophis brothers house where we ate a lush homemade Khmer meal under the mango trees in the front yard.
After hearing a few of my stories about going out dancing in Cambodia the family decided they needed to take me to be a 'khmer disco diva' so sophis brother took us to a karaoke bar where I taught them how to dance to lady ga ga and they taught me Khmer dance moves. Mara and I tried to sing along in Khmer even though the sound alike words they gave us had no vowels in, so it was a near impossible task but funny as hell none the less!
Heading back to the volunteer house now, have been asked to try and fix some ones laptop on the journey, ever since I set up a tumblr they seem to think i'm an IT geek that can do anything. I've even found myself saying have you tried turning it off and on again which I found hilarious but I'm not sure they understood why lol.
Going to miss Cambodia when I leave I've never met such kind, generous people, everyone I've met has either took me to dinner, cooked me dinner (always telling me 'Vicky! Eat more!' )or offered me a pot of cream after laughing at how many mosquito bites I have on my legs!
