Last few days have been amazing heading to monkey island with 3 great guys I met in the bar few days prior.
Saturday morning I was woken up by Nella telling me there was guy down stairs asking if I was coming to the islands I wasnt packed or ready n feeling hungover I said tell him il see him tomorrow with this andy came upstairs n told me to stop feeling sorry myself and that I was coming so with that I packed my bag, quit my job and was taken to met rich n bj who were in a worse state than me! we eventually made it to the boat feeling terrible, this resulted in rich throwing up in the sea before we even got on the boat! We arrived and headed for a curry before anything else, we then checked into the co co bungalow resort where the cocktails were $2 and the electricity was only available between 6 and 10pm, showers were a trickle of water in a dark room and wifi was no where to be found. We got a BBQ and over heard some people talking about the billionaire owner of the island who was having a party with free alcohol so we headed down to gate crash. We were offered beer or $500 johnnie walker blue label whiskey. We choose whiskey and were all made to shot it ....it was disgusting, it took all I had in me not to spit it out in front of the Khmer people! Needless to say it took some effect n we danced to Khmer music until it died out, we stumbled back to our beds in the pitch black with not even a street lamp to lead the way
Next day we went to explore the beaches we trekked through some jungle n found that every beach was completely empty with white sands n clear sea as warm as bath water. It was stunning I spent the day snorkeling around the rocks looking at all the fish which was great except I burnt all my back, but totally worth it. We spent the evening playing cards n sipping cocktails.
The following day we went on a fishing trip. Being my first time I thought I'd be terrible but after 5 seconds of dropping down my line I caught the first fish, this completely put the boys to shame.... Was too good!
We caught a lot of fish between us with a little help from Andy throwing up over the side of the boat from too much drink the night before! We headed back n went for a nap on the beach. In the evening we BBQed the fish on the beach n ate our catch, it tasted lush!
The next day was the last day on the islands, couldn't feel more sad to leave. Will miss the guys but am excited to be heading to laos to reunite with my girls from volunteering! Looking forward to some more crazy antics - snooky style!
