Arrived in Sydney this morning around 9.30am ish. Finally in a twin room not a dorm for a change, its nice to have our own space back for a few days. Wandered down to the bus stop in the centre and got on the 'city sightseeing' open top bus tours of Sydney. It cost us $25 instead of $30 with our backpackers cards. The ticket lasts for 24 hours so today we stopped off at Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge - both very spectacular so lots of photos taken! Back on the bus we went past the Botanical Gardens, Maritime Museum, Aquarium, Australian Museum, and Hyde Park. Had lunch at The Rocks which was nice although quite dear as it was on the harbour front. So tomorrow we're gonna get up for 8am and head to Bondi Beach.

Up at 8am this morning to catch the City Sightseeing bus to Bondi Beach at 9am. Arrived there and it was pretty disappointing, the weather was overcast and it spotted rain on and off. There were still a few surfers in the water though! But it could have been any beach, although i can imagine its booming in the summer with giant waves, and millions of people! After that at around 12.15pm we caught the bus back into the city and had a wander down the shops to hunt for warmer clothes to take to New Zealand! Then in the afternoon we headed up Sydney Tower in hope of getting some fantastic views of Sydney, although i was very disappointed as the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House were pretty much masked by all the sky scrapers so you cdould hardly even see them! Then for tea we had a chinese takeaway with the Irish girls in their posh apartments as they leave for New Zealand tomorrow!

Had a lie in til around 11.30am then up and out, had a bit of a mooch around the shops and both bought matching 'AUS' hoodies for a bargainous $10 - yes we look like total idiot tourists now! Then we went and got the ferry to 'Manly' - had a look round there, not a great deal but the view of Sydney was good from the boat. Then after a couple of hours there we got on the ferry again to 'Darling Harbour' (what a lovely name) got some tea, the view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House was fantastic, all lit up in the night sky.

Today has been another moochy day really, headed down to 'Paddy's Markets' and picked up some tat as well as a scarf - yes its yellow and green! woo, sexy as. Also we picked up some vile legwarmers/tights type thing, in fluorescent pink and blue, to wear in bed and keep us warm in NZ! Looking forward to cooking meals in our van in New Zealand, we'll be able to do ourselves some nice meals instead of eating out all the time. Read a book today called 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' set around the time of the Holocaust, an easy read hence it only took me a day. Packed up for our early departure to the land of sheep tomorrow!
