The start of our tour…
Today we started our Contiki tour, and were met on the bus by our tour manager Nathan, or 'Pumba' as he likes to be known !! After a two and a half hour bus journey, during which Nathan spoke the whole time, we arrived at our first stop, Waitomo, which is famous for its caves. As we were driving it looked like we were driving through the English countryside, which was very strange. Our accommodation is really nice - pretty much luxury for us after staying in hostels for the past three weeks! We had pizza and salad for dinner and then went to the local bar. The population of Waitomo is 50 people, so it wasn't exactly a raving night, although all the Aussies (we're the only English) seemed to get drunk in about five minutes and then spent the night flirting with the Yokels, which was quite funny to watch!
