Woke up this morning after a not so pleasant sleep. Someone had closed the window and the heater was on... made for a very muggy sleep
Went on a 'Royal' walking tour today where we were shown the places invovled with the royals and politics. First stop was Hyde Park Corner where there was a statue of the Duke of Wellington and his house was across the road. He was the guy who invented the Wellington boots.. I think.
Next stop was Buckingham Palace, where we sort of saw The Changing of the Guards. I say 'sort of' because the number of people there was just obscene. And it was pretty hard to see the palace itself through the gate and people.
My favourite place/buildings were Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament - they were absolutely stunning. Might be the bits of gold here and there that does it.
Also walked through:
- Churchill's War Cabinet Bunker,
- Tralfalgar Square
- National Gallery
- Pall Mall
- Nelson's Column
- 10 Downing Street (as close as we could get to it anyway)
- A big sand thing where the horses from Buckingham Palace go to. This is where the beach volleyball event is going to be held when the Olympics are on in London.
And thats all I can remember.
Tomorrow hopefully weather is ok to do the historical walking tour.
