hello viewers sorry its been so long since my last entry but i'm seeing the world. only kidding. i know you know ha ha. well i have since left LA and Fiji but i will tell you a little about my journey.
I got to la on april 1st. I know this is a late entry, time flies. We dumped our stuff in the hostel we were staying-then went and joined our fellow backpackers for a free bbq-timing or what. The next day we went to universal studios for a day of being a kid again. we saw all the special effects they use for films and we did a studio tour which took us round the major studios they use. i also got a piccy with a possible suita- shrek himself- mum do you approve?
We did the walk of fame the next day to check out all the stars and their so called looky likeys. some good, some not so good. we then went on a city tour, which took us around beverley hills and bel-air,also rodeo drive and the strip. Unfortunately i didn't see any stars although i was trying my absolute hardest. We also saw the famous sign, but weren't allowed very close due to all possible suicides that may occur up there.anyway.... We then decided to go out that eveing with two other travellers. we headed for saddle ranch, which turned out to have a karioke night and a bucking bull in the middle, which one of us may have been going on later in the evening. the staff there were very welcoming and gave us loads of free shots, don't know what amount of tip they were expected at the end. the drinks seemed to work and before i knew it i was at the front of the bar choosing what song i would be singing at some point that evening. sam (fellow traveller) and i eventually decided on 'can't fight the moonlight' from coyote ugly. unfortunately and lucky for LA residents they didn't get to hear me sing as we got drunk further, which meant my fellow travelling companion wanted food. so we headed to the nearest kebab place, which we soon found out did NOT exist. After all why would you need that when you have so many burger places. We managed to flag down a taxi driver who we told to take us to the nearest burger joint, which happened to be a wendys drive thru. the driver was kind enough to drive as through the drive thru and wait to get our food, then transport us home, now you would not get that in the UK. He probably regretted it though as i then continued to tell him the difference between a frie and chip and a chip and a crisp. And how they had changed our language. He was educated after though. T
he next day was lazy day, so we just wondered around the hostel,as we had done everything we wanted to do in 3 days. We visited santa monica beach the next day, which turned out to be abit of a palarva as bus drivers did not seem to know which bus we had to get on. Eventually we got down there and made our way to venice beach, along the way checking out the street performers. The weather was not great and it was definately not bikini weather, there was going to be no baywatch performances that day. We also went past 'muscle beach' so not worth the look, unless your into really muscly men in thongs....... The next day was our flight to fiji but we had a whole day to kill with nothing to do. bring on the sun!
well folks that was La. now for Fiji. i know that was long but please stay with me.... Next blog..
Unfortunately due to the date zone we lost a whole day.... we were meant to try and sleep on the flight but can't sleep on plane journeys so i had no hope. we arrived on the sunday very early about have 6 in the end and we had to wait another hour until we could get on the road. we were staying on beachomber island 'the party island' at mid day,but due to a mix up we didn't get our backpacks till about 1-2 o'clock, that may not seem long but when your in jeans and a jumper its not very comfortable. We decided to stay in a private lodge and not the 87 bed dorm which was available. would not want to use that bathroom in the morning..... The following day we started how we meant to go on.. do nothing and soak up the sun. We tried snorkeling but due to the old equipment supplied i gave up with mine, and just sat on the boat waiting for the more successful snorklers to come back and relay what they'd seen. i cheered myself up though in the evening by drinking which again was successful, and being drink on an island...good experience. the staff on the island were so welcoming apart from the bit where they confiscated our alcohol which we had bought on the mainland, they were far cleverer than we thought, as they worked out that we were only buying one fizzy drink with two glasses but still appeared to be plastered... didn't feel to bad as we had befriended four people earlier on in the day, who advised us that they had alcohol in their lodge so we welcomed ourselves up there. later on the same night, i wondered back down to the bar which was then closed to find three brummies lads sitting around, one appeared to be def past the limit and was trying to be sick. i will let you in on a secret... i have a strange technique where i can help people be sick. again my talent worked and he was one happy if not drunk pukey...
we headed for bounty island for a few days after as we found out that it was where they had the first series of celebrity love island. UK tv watchers you know the one. again nothing on the activity front, unless you call eating, sunbathing, sleeping activites. we did walk round Bounty to see what still existed of the love shack they used. it was really run down and left to decompose unfortunately. still we had to get a photo. we didn't have the best weather in fiji from that afternoon. the heavens decided to open and show us what real rain was- we are english we do know. so that continued to be that case on and off for the next two days, but hey we were still in fiji....
The next day we were due to catch a plane to New Zealand to start another leg of our trip and thats where i am now....
stay tuned!
