Arthur's birthday today. Left Wanaka this morning and went to Puzzling World. There were loads of optical illusions, holographic pictures, pictures creating pictures, a slanting room which made me feel really sick. Everything in it was horizontal but the floor was sloping down and so you kept tripping, as your brain thought you were tipping, but you obviously weren't. There was also an Ames Room, which makes people on one side look huge and people on the other tiny. This is the technique they used in The Lord of the Rings, to make the Hobbits look tiny. We then got a bacon butty which was included in our ticket!
We went outside to do the maze. There was a challenge where you had to find all 4 corners (where there were different coloured towers) and then make your way out to the finish. The average time was 1 and half hours, but Arthur and I did it in 20 mintues! Not to say it wasn't pretty confusing! The toilets had a painting on the far wall which carried on what was in the room (Roman style loos) so at first you think it goes a long way back, so you can get a funny photo pretending to be on the loo.. On the way to Queenstown we got out at the 45th parallel, halfway between the equator and the South Pole, so the bottom 1/4 of the earth and only 5% of the world's population will ever travel into it. We stopped off at the bungy bridge, with the world's first bungy. and were going out tonight in Queenstown for A's bday, so that should be good. Everyone is going for pizza first.
