Day 25 – 30 11th August – 16th August : Uruguay Montevideo and Colonia then to Bariloche
Tres Esquinas, Uruguay
So, I decided to book a ferry directly from Buenos Aries to Montevideo the capital of Uruguay. The ferry station is more like an airport - you have to check in go through security and then immigration. On the 3 hour ferry I took a turn for the worse and started feeling like s*** again. I eventually made it to the hostel and asked for a private room - I did not leave this room for two days other than to get some water until I had to leave to go to Colonia. This meant I didn't see any of Montevideo but I had to get better.
I got the bus to Colonia which is a small historical port in Uruaguy and only 1 hour away from Buenos Aries. Colonia is a world heritage site, the main reason it is famous is because it used to be the world biggest smuggling port. But now is just a tourist attraction full of cobbled streets and little cafes. I walked the lighthouse too.
That is about all I have to say on Uruguay as I spent most of my time in bed with the flu so next stop is the 22 hour bus journey down to Bariloche. Ready to see some snow and mountains.
