They held the plane back for us, good job! Flight delayed about 30-35 minutes so all in all not as bad as it could've been, just a small hiccup. The walk from where the Heathrow plane docked to where the JHB plane was waiting was about a mile, i kid you not! Done in double time!
Security & boarding was super quick too, maybe delays aren't such a bad thing? Anyway, I'm sure the pilot can make that time up in the air if he is authorised to do so, lets hope huh. Time try get some sleep now, been awake far too long, almost 27 hours...
Just before lunch was served we flew over the Alps Mountain range - the views from up here are stunning, I'll post a pic or two when I have access to a pc to download the photos from my camera.
Lunch was good, nothing to write home about, just a tasty (I had the fish) reminder that you're on an airplane, on a flight, to some far away destination.
I managed to steal a few hours kip here & there but nothing substantial, my host picking me up from the Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport is going to be greeted by a zombie!
Oh, and by the way, if you're going to take your shoes off during the flight, please be sure you have a 'holeless' pair of socks on! You can look as smart as an executive Wall-Street business man but the vented sock look really does ruin the whole image... ;-)
About mid flight, I wasn't getting much sleep, I went to the back of the plane & started chatting to the flight attendants & some of the other passengers. Had a long chat with a Dutch bloke, who lives in SA, who's son is an up & coming rugby player, he's 14 years old & is off to New Zealand with a group of lads to play a few games there. If he does well there's a high possibility that he may get a university scholarship. His Dad, who was telling me this, is so proud of him, you could just see him glowing as he was relaying the story to me. Great to see, hope his son does very well.
The desert view outside the window is starting to get greener, more pools of water are visible too so the view is starting to get interesting. Just thought I'd share that?! This is also the first flight I've been on where the seatbelt sign hasn't been flicked on every time there's a little turbulence, and at time there has been a lot! Just get it done...

Fi Edwards Hi Vaughan, glad you managed to find an interesting yarn on the flight. You can talk the hind legs of a donkey!
