This really is honeymoon paradise!
After 3 weeks of travelling India and Nepal we were so happy to be stranded here!! Our resort is in a private bay, only reachable by boat, so very calm and relaxed! And a beautiful atmosphere... Little huts, tons of palm trees, a huge pool, several restaurants, the beach on one side, rock formations on the other side! Our room with a huge balcony and jacuzzi lies pretty high up with a beautiful view of the bay! Could hardly be any better ;-) We just have to be careful with all those monkeys roaming around, trying to get into the rooms...
The first two days we had fantastic weather, enjoying the pool, the beach and the beachfront bar!
On Friday we went on an excursion to some natural hot springs in the area, where you can sit in natural rock pools while the warm water is cascading down... Great! Then afterwards to Emerald Pool, a big natural pool in the rainforest. Also visiting Tiger Cave Temple but not so impressed by that one ;-) That afternoon we went on an elephant tour as well, riding through the jungle and feeding the elephant afterwards.
Saturday and Sunday then were pretty rainy. Obviously there is not much to do here with bad weather, so reading a lot, sitting in the jacuzzi on our balcony, drinking champagne, sleeping, going to the gym was what kept us occupied those days...
Luckily on Monday it cleared up, so we were able to go on a tour to Phi Phi Islands! The speedboat ride itself past all those little islands was already a highlight for me ;-) And then of course we stopped at all those beautiful beaches and bays for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing! Although we were not able to go into Maya Bay known from the movie "The Beach" and of course there were a lot of other tourist boats, it's still a beautiful scenery!
Coming back to our resort, low tide was especially low and we were able to walk all the way to Aonang Beach and even to the monolith in our bay, watching the fishermen bring in their nets with fish and crabs.
Today is our last full day... After breakfast we still enjoyed an hour of dry weather, going for a swim and some stand-up-paddeling, but then the rain kicked in again. So jacuzzi and reading in bed again, hoping for the sun to come out again to spoil us for the last day and a half we still have left...
