Van Trip 2007
Day 63
Kilometres Travelled.......285
After leaving Crows Nest we stopped in Toowoomba to buy a new GPS, unfortunately the old one gave up the ghost and lost its way.
Back on the road again we followed the Gore Highway through the towns of Brookstead, Millmerran and Wyaga to Goondiwindi.
This day being Father's Day we stopped at a rest area on the highway and had our Father's Day lunch...
We arrived at the Goondiwindi Tourist Park early afternoon and settled in to site 43 for 2 nights. The site was a bit damp as it had been watered during the morning before our arrival.
Brookstead is located between Pittsworth and Millmerran on the Gore Highway. It is a whistle-stop, offering fuel, barbecue facilities and a post office.
Millmerran is in the Darling Downs region. The town is on the Gore Highway, 208 kilometres west of Brisbane. At the 2006 census it had a population of 1,223. European settlement in the Millmerran area began in 1841 when the Gore brothers established the vast Yandilla Station, which covered an estimated 1,780 square kilometres and hosted its own school with 20 to 30 students, a telegraph station and store.
