Van Trip 2007
We finally arrived home on 6th September after a trip lasting 67 days. The map to the left shows our journey to & from Cooktown, our northern most City.
Some statistics relating to the trip are listed below:
Kilometres travelled 7428
Litres of petrol used 1717
Average litres per 100 Kms 23.1
Petrol cost $2470
Average cost per litre $1.44
Average petrol cost per night $36.87
Total Caravan Park costs $2080
Average Van Park cost per night $31.04
Average cost per night parks & petrol $67.91
I guess the key statistic is the overall cost per night of $67.91, which is comparatively very cheap accommodation. I don't like thinking about the quality of a motel costing the same per night.
In the final analysis we enjoyed the holiday very much, the strange thing was that Jude slept much better in the Van than she does at home.
Some of the high-lites of the trip were:
Our trip to Cooktown.
Meeting up with the Gosford contingent of Terry, Mary, Ken, Caroline, Jack, Judith, Brian & Susan in Townsville, Cairns & Cooktown.
Meeting up with our great friends from Thornleigh - David & Cindy Bell.
Meeting up with my brother Kerry and his wife Peggy.
Spending time with our friends Ralph & Lee at their home at Port Hinchinbrook.
Our pleasant surprise at the quality of the Van Parks at Ayr, Cape Palmerston and Mundubbera.
