What an epic introduction to the Rickshaw Run! The race started at 11.30am after group photos and once everyone was ready. 'Kash-mir if you can' (our new UK mates) and us ('Wellywood BYC Club') set off for Jodhpur which is approximately 280km away. Everything was going well until the sandstorm hit us which slowed us down a bit. Then the rain and lightning hit and then our windscreen wiper broke along with Tommy and Georgina's tuk tuk breaking down. All of this resulted in us having to drive for 1.5 hours in the dark which is a horrible experience. The Indians seem to love high beam which means you're blinded half the time, cattle and goats get in the way, potholes everywhere and plenty of dodgy overtaking meant it was a nervous finish to the day. We won with our hotel though which was NZD 18 each (NOK 100) for a very nice room and dinner was pretty good too. 5 hours of sleep until an early start tomorrow morning!
