Navarette, Spain
Logrono - Navarette
After total disconnection of the world when my phone broke I am finally back again. Funny, it's not being online that I was missing the most but my music, my audio books and photos. I guess life tried to tell: "you wanted to be alone, here you go, switch off from everything."
I started to get a bit nervous when my phone broke just on my birthday and I got sick. I thought I have to do this and that and solve, etc. But suddey stopped when realized I'm coming back to an act of doing and not the act of being. Whatever even if it takes 3 more hours to fix a phone or even I have to wait one more day. I just sat down on a bench, enjoyed fountain, the sun, my favourite city so far and very interesting readings. I got my inner peace back :).
And I stayed in Logrono which I absolutely fell in love with. I managed to come here on a Spanish wine festival. I could really feel real spanish culture with local music, cervesa, tinto, ponchos (tapas in basque), ladies dancing with flamenko kaskets and youth on stage teaching to dance reggeaton. You can join and follow the moves. Salsa is not cool anymore in Spain. Live orchestras were passing by and playing lovely famous spanish songs which made all the street alive. When I finished being surprised seeing small "kiosks" around every corner where you can win a million and happily thought I saw it all, the fiesta just started. I guess still can't get use to spanish time :) by the way, I can't get dinner here earlier than 7.30pm but in most cases from 8pm. My dragon stomach which is up usually from 6am is not very happy :)
Another thing which takes my heart is true spanish warmth. I went to eat alone and guess if they could leave me in peace for 5min? Old ladies with perfect intelligent dresses and nails started to hug me and speak something in spanish. I was holding my sangria with both hands because it was too big to be able to hold with one and I clearly said I don't speak spanish but they kept talking and I think they wanted that I join their "ladies in 80s gang" :). Or simply the lady on a street whom I asked the way, touched my hand 7 times in 2min. To the point that I didn't hear what she says but started to count it :) she was very sweet though. And this is me speaking - huggs and kisses person!
And this kindness of people I've never seen!!!! I don't know if it is El Camino thing or Spain too or a mix. Today I walked to my Albergue (hostel) and the owner saw that I am tired, so took my bag and brought to a third floor. I even didn't have time to say anything. And later I wanted to do laundry but was so tired that almost fell asleep while waiting washing machine to stop. I come to hang my cloth and the husband of the owner is doing it for me. For a second I wanted him to stop but he kicked me out and said to go to sleep and rest. What can I say, just smiled and followed the order.
Though today I walked a bit less - just 12.7km. And it was sooo nice. I walked literally almost alone finally because most of people left like 5 hours ago. And it was just amazing. I could sing outloud, I could lay down on a grass and breath fresh lake air! And those pine trees smells so great! Just simply organic spa with sun cuddling my face. And I stucked often at the vynyards - those fresh grapes are so sweet and tasty here. Of course truck driver trying to bring all those grapes through bumpy road almost fell through his truck window while waved to me and shouted: "buenos dias! buen camino".
To conclude, I fell in love with Spain: the people, the culture, the weather, the happiness and kindness around, the nature, good wine. And of course the food is just "Mamamia".
Life feels so beautiful and in harmony those moments... I'm so glad my days are full of those moments and I still have so many days ahead...
