Christian's Little Jaunt
Alright everybody? How goes, hope all is good in your world?
Awesome day at Treble Cone today, perched high up above Lake Wanaka, giving some breathtaking views when you get up top as you can see in the new photo album. Twas wind-blown and icy but when the snow falls, this place is fun-park powder-central I reckon. The terrain is a cross between Chamonix and Tignes, all chutes and gullies and rock drops everywhere - sheer heaven when the white stuff comes. So we burned around, Fuzz, Abi and me, got a couple of good shots on the kickers and boxes. By the way, anyone who's had a drink in Tignes' best bar, have a close look at the chest representation in the last photo. Round-the-world advertising costs, y'know boys - needless to say my invoice is in the post.
There's loads of these parrot-type birds flying around, think they're called Kia, ugly as hell and cheeky too. They're obviously completely used to us punters as they'll come right up to take food from you - one was nonchalantly sipping from a coffee cup which it had just nicked from a nearby table and another took a chip right from my hand. Half expected him to moan about the lack of salt.
More photos in the On The Lagers 2 album - what more to say apart from the crew here is sweet as and it'll be a shame to leave. Which brings me on to mention that my plans have changed quite a bit, as have decided to skip Wanaka early, hire a car and drive up to Auckland (flight to Fiji September 9th) via Milford Sound, Mount Hutt, Raglan, Mount Ruapehu, various national parks, etc etc. So we've got the motor for this Saturday (19th) and are going to drive virtually the full length of New Zealand, checking out what more this amazing country has to offer. Christ, you'd need about 10 years to do everything properly but we're going to cover the cool stuff.
So there we have it. I'll drop another update before leaving Wanaka, no doubt with more photos of being utterly legless during Thursday's bash and attempting to snowboard at some stage over the next 2 days too.
Take care y'all, vive ut vivas, C x
