Christian's Little Jaunt
What can you say about Queenstown? It's famous for being adrenalin-fuelled, and rightly so. Spent a couple of nights there, and everything was going so well in my simple "nice lakeview, all is chilled" head until Abi booked the Nevis highwire. For those of you who've done it, nice one. For those of you who haven't, it's a 134 metre high bungy over the Nevis river. Now, I'm a bit of a girly-pants when it comes to heights, however as soon as my esteemed travelling partner had booked her jump, my male pride took over and before I knew it, we're both on the bus on the way there. Sweaty palms, dry mouth, jabbering about nothing relevant (nothing new there then), moist undergarments - we hadn't even got there yet! What a rush though. You peer over the ledge when it's your turn, a tiny speck of river all the way down below you, and the guy's telling you "make it a good jump for the camera." A good jump?! You're having a laugh mate, I'm trying to keep my breakfast in. There's a moment when you think you can't jump, then you're away and flying. 4 seconds freefall, the ground rushing up - it's one of the most nerve-wracking, most intensely exciting things I've ever done. And I nearly got married once.
