Arrived safely and on time at Entebbe airport after long overnight flight. Feeling tired but full of excitement and expectation. Relieved to collect all TEN, yes ten bags and ventured off to find our driver. We were greeted by the tallest Ugandan displaying Stacys name-how special did we feel! What a journey from the airport, our first taste of Africa. We all spent the journey with a mouths open, taking in the sights. So many people everywhere and we got our first shouts of muzungo!
Met up with UK midwives Jean and Dianne for drinks and made plans. Kind invitation from Dianne for dinner which we quickly accepted. We jumped on the back of a boda and headed to Diannes apartment in the swamp. During the excitement of our first ride dodging the potholes, people and traffic we realised Sams boda had sped off, leaving two muzengos lost in Kampala. A few phone calls later and we are reunited!! Hilarious times, could only happen to us! had a great evening with Dianne-great food and company and lots to learn abot midwifery in Uganda...
