Road trip French Guiana-style! We've spent the last few days in a little Renault Clio up and down the coastline. French Guiana is ridiculously expensive and renting the car drained our already empty pockets. Thus we have been starving ourselves the last couple of days to save money on food... Think about that the next time you throw away food at home, two hungry spoons starving in "France". We are malnutritioned and u should be worried... We're going down, much like a boat sending out an S.O.S (Sinking, Oh Shìt)... Cayenne, Kourou etc. is actually more expensive than Paris, hopefully we get our Surinamese visas tomorrow and then it's au revoir and piss off France asap...
So, what have we done here? The most memorable moment has been the following: We had driven around the coast watching different stuffs and thingymagics, but were unable to find any cheap option to sleep for the night. So we decided to try to locate a camping site and just sleep in the car. We had no luck in finding any camping options, but we did however drive past a small "auberge". Motivated by the sight we hurried out of the car and met a nice lady who could accomodate us for the night. They even had a cayman in the back yard she said. Coolio... we checked in and hurried out to spot the friendly cayman. We didn't find any Schni Schna Schnappi and discouraged we walked back to continue our infinit game of Cûntface (The score is 85-81 btw). But then, out of nowhere a tremendously huge and extremly venomous snake tried to attack a spoon! The spoon barely dodged the assault, did a quick ninjaroll and was on his feets again. Awesome, time for a photosession!!! After hundred of shots and different poses with the enemy aka the snake, the lovely lady who owned the place appeared on the balcony wondering what all the commotion was about. Quickly we brought her up to speed on the newest information about the enemy, where she replied; "C'est pas bon!". She rushed back inside and in matter of seconds she was leaping across the lawn wearing nothing but her bathrobe and carrying a huge shotgun! What the fûck?!? The backyard was now a warzone. The lady emerged like a tiger from the bushes and motioned for us to get behind... BANG! She had missed, the snake was furious and launched several rapid attacks, almost hitting one of the friendly nearby gooses who had come to watch in the eye. BANG! She missed again... But the sneaky snake was on the run. Victory! And then we went to bed, ninjastyle...
Y'day we visited the infamous Îles du Salut, three small islands off the coast from Kourou, where the most famous one is Devil's Island. This was a former penal colony where the inmates ranged from political prisoners to hardened thieves and murderers. Many of you might recall the book and following movie Papillon which is based on stories of an inmate from this island which miraculously escaped. This was also the prison who held political prisoner Alfred Dreyfus. Devil's Island is now closed to the public. The sharkinfested waters and the strong currents around the island has made the island almost unreachable. You can only visit the two other islands Île Royale and Île Saint-Joseph.
We've also visited the Centre Spatiale Guyanese. Tried to catch a satelite or a rocketlaunch, but missed it with a few days much to our big disapointment.
Rain is pouring down over French Guiana today and the hungry spoons justs wants to get out of here... Please oh please let the visas be done tomorrow!
