I hadn't seen my barber before, she was called Ramona. We chatted away, trading life stories. She was from Dortmund and was here because she married a British soldier, who she'd met in Germany. The soldier was now long gone, leaving her to bring up two kids. I said, in a gross generalisation, that I thought the German psyche was a bit like the British, noting that the Mediterranean countries seemed more able to take laid back approach to life. The bloke in the next seat (see bloke in photo) agreed, revealing he himself was from Valetta, in Malta. His Barber was Donna, who is from Fez in Morocco. We all got on marvellously, and they enthusiastically agreed to a what I called a "UN selfie". The world should look to its barber shops for inspiration.

Monk I noted in one of the UK papers yesterday that a great deal of the UK 'recovery' is down the 300000 immigrants. This is troublesome for Tories and Labour, who are being driven down the rhetoric chain by the pint-drinking Farage. I note from his biography (serialised in D Telegraph) that he was a trader/gambler in the City in an earlier life, with frequent reckless tendencies after long lunches.
