SOMEWHERE BETWEEN UBON AND BANGKOK, THAILAND. TUESDAY APRIL 27 2010, 2015 HRS.
Writing from a night train towards the currently restless Bangkok… Next destination: Kolkata, India.
After an extremely adventurous and eye-opening week in the Ubonratchathani province, it's time to bid farewell to South-East Asia, and head westwards to the mystical land of wonders, namely India… My sincere thanks to Mod & the family for the kindness and hospitality you've shown to me! Truly, it will not be the last time P'Chang visits South-East Asia, or Thailand.
I hear there's a lot of news about Bangkok being a dangerous place at the moment, since some people have died there lately in grenade attacks during the protests and the situation is getting more and more serious. All the protesters I've seen so far have been peaceful - except that the speeches have started to include phrases such as "death to the enemies" - and there has been protests at the city of Ubon as well, and I've seen a lot of 'red shirts' on the streets, so the protesting (and violence?) is spreading its wings across all of Thailand now… But that shall be another story, my story takes me to the boiling hot streets of Kolkata (formely known as Calcutta, and before that, Kalikata). The plane from Bangkok leaves tomorrow morning at 0940 HRS… "A stand defiant, a Will to triumph!"
Jai Ma Kali!
Her Darkest Blessings,
P'Chang (aka T. Karhunen)
