G'day campers!!!!
Just on the train back to Melbourne after a fabulous couple of days in bendigo after visiting Jany and Ian Clutton.
Jany and Ian are auntie and uncle to Ben, who married jemma, who I was bridesmaid for in Thailand....hope your keeping up.
When they found out we were visiting melbourne they invited us to stay with them and it has been brilliant.
Jany picked us up on Friday afternoon from kangaroo flat train station and promptly took us to the pub to meet Ian. She knows john and i so well already! We joined Ian and his friends for several pots (aka half a lager) before Jany took us home for pizza while Ian explained the rules behind AFL.
After sleeping in the most comfortable bed in the world, I headed out for a run. It was the perfect weather to run in. A slight chill in the air, but sun shining, my new playlist...and the thought of a hot brekkie, hot shower and clean cloths waiting for me when on my return...get in!
Run, brekkie and shower done we headed down the road to watch an AFL match. Janys son Darren was playing and we went along to support. I now love Aussie football and I actually understand it thanks to Ian. I even got to go in the changing room afterwards :D.
I love the fact that no matter where you are in the world, if you are watching football, you have to have a pie and a pint. I had a vb in one hand and an Aussie pie in the other. Aussie pie is a bit like a mince pie back home, twas luvly, loads a tommy sauce on top.
We met Janys mum who kindly lent me a scarf as it was getting a little nippy.
After the match, which Darren's team Bridgewater, won by a massive score, we headed to their team club house for the 1000 pound drop. A raffle where you have the chance to win 1000 Aussie pounds.
I was super excited about this, but what I was even more excited about was the roast lunch the club house was putting on :D. Roast beef, beetroot, roasted pumpkin and the biggest pan of gravy I have ever ever seen. 2 helpings I had and I was stuffed. I even mopped up my gravy with a slice of bread! A family called the "fergusons" make the meals and they deserve a medal, what a feast!
After this we headed home for a couple of southern comforts and lemonade before I happily jumped into bed.
Sunday morning we headed for a full english breakfast which Jany treated us too. Best English brekkie we have had in ages. After this, a little retail therapy in Kmart. Jeans for 19 dollars!!!! I bloody love Kmart. And shoes for 5 dollars!!!!
All in all a fabulous weekend. Jany and Ian have lovly family and friends and it was great to visit.
Happily fed cleaned and watered we are now heading back into Melbourne where tomorrow we have tickets to an AFL game at the MCG, before heading to the neighbours night at the elephant and wheelbarrow (I ain't going if Karl Kennedy ain't there) then trying to stay awake to watch England v France in the euros.
Boom boom pow xxxx
