Brilliant brilliant brilliant!
John and I had been going on about going to watch real mauy Thai, and tonight we did. Wasn't cheap at £20 per ticket (this was the cheapest) but a great night.
6 matches, 5 rounds each 3 minutes long. First was two young lads, weighting bout 70lbs each. They do a little Thai dance in the ring (a ritual all the fighters did) then a nod of the heads then it's round 1. I got well into it. Johns side wore blue shorts, mine in red. The little lads did all five rounds with blue being victorious.
The adult fights where short and sweet. It just takes one blow, and the opposition is down. My guy had to be revived with smelling salts, he was out cold by the second round!
It was the final fight which was brutal. A jumping descending elbow from the blue side opened a gash on the head of the Brazilian guy in red. Blood starting streaming down his face and when mixed with sweat, it went everywhere. The match was stopped due to the fact it wouldn't stop bleeding and his eye began to shut! But the guy in blue, after every round, would check the red guy was ok. Really respectful to each other, yet trying to kick the s*** out of each other as well!
I love the fact I get to do actual mauy Thai moves in a body combat class. none contact so no blood, but at least i get to chose who is my victim....opponent! ;)
