ARRIVAL

Ok.... So we arrive in San Fran very excited and so happy our trip has finally begun! So we jump on the Metro from the airport heading downtown towards our hostel (with 2 VERY VERY heavy backpacks and a suitcase) Had we been sensible and started packing at least a few days before we left, giving ourselves time to test the weight of the backpacks etc etc.....! (and not being MEGA trashy) the backpacks probably would have been fine...... but no, we didnt, so they weren't!

THE HOSTEL

So anyway..... we arrive at our station- Mission street. 1st impressions of the area were ok, 90% of the people appeared to be latin, unexpected but cool. We arrived at the hostel which was really really nice, seemed more like a hotel, had a very funky rooftop terrace which did food and drinks with an amazing view of San Fran.

MISSION STREET!!!!!!

After freshening up later that evening we decided to have a look around the area, get food etc etc... So we started walking down the street we were staying on {the one and only Mission Street!!} So we get approached by this black baglady asking for a fag, cool, gave her a fag, the guy she was with was commenting on how expensive the brands we were wearing were. Cool, guess we took this as a bit of a compliment. Anyways she tells us she loves our accents, as we say bye, she shouts "You boys be careful in this place, these people, they rob, they shoot and they KILL!!!! LOL!! Not the intro to the area we were looking for!! But anyway we carry on down the street (WITH CAUTION) :) had some food etc.

On the way back to hotel, walking down the same street just a few hrs closer to full moon!!!!! Well, never have either of us seen so many Post crack whitney's, nutcases and just generally very very shady people all in one place at one time!!!!!!! s***tin a brick as u might imagine, especially when some of em were grabbin our hands etc!!! Dont mean to generalise, but if we had to put a figure on how many of them might have had guns.... I reckon at least half!!! Could be wrong of course, but definitely not our kind of street!! Lol

THE BRIDGE AND WHARF

So next day we decided to head down towards Fishermans wharf which was absoloutely lush, had a look around etc. We decided to rent bicycles (as it seemed to be the done thing here) and ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. This was great fun, pretty physical as ya might imagine, nearly killed ourselves getting up to the bridge!!! but it was amazing...... Standing on the bridge, so high above the water, you could feel a very fine cool mist blowing around, which was so nice as we were sweating our t*** off by time we got up there!!! Took some pics..... Then came the ride down!!!! It was a huge hill, was a great ride as you could easily gain speed and rocket down...... So were speeding down the hill, and suddenly my f*****g pedal flies off the bike and into the road, took me a few seconds to realise what had happened as we were going so fast!! Tom stopped behind me and grabbed pedal. Talk about lucky..... the situation couldve been a whole lot worse!!!
