New York, New York
Day 1
We arrived at the hotel, dropped off our baggage and went to the Museum Of Natural History. We then went to Central Park and walked around for a while, until we found a green space to put down a blanket and take a nap in the shade. We checked into our hotel at 3. We walked down broadway a bit to get familiar with our neighbourhood, by 6 we were dead tired so we ordered in dinner from the Manhattan Diner. After we ate, we passed out and slept right until the next morning at 9:30
Day 2
We slept in a bit, then got up and ate breakfast and headed down to Madison Square Gardens which was right across the street from Penn Station. After MSG we went to the Empire State Building. We waited for just over an hour as we had to get through major security and wait to get in an elevator that takes you up to the 86th floor. The views were amazing. We then made our way over to the New York Public Library. The architecture was mind boggleing. The details and the murals on the roof and the marble floors were gorgeous. Grand Central was our next stop. It is way bigger than I expected, there is like a mall inside it, a ton of restaurants and tons of subways and trains and all that. We managed to find the big entrance area that is in all of the movies and we got many pictures. Finally we ended our downtown experience with St Patricks Cathedral. It was a beautiful Roman Catholic Church. After that we took the subway up to our hotel and got ready to head to Times Square for dinner. We went to Planet Hollywood, and lucked out and sat at the bar. It was great. We spent the next hour and a bit walking up and down Times Square. The lights, the people, the energy, the volume, the tourists, and all the locals was actually so amazing. No wonder it is known as the city that never sleeps, that place is so alive. At 10 we headed back to the hotel and passed out.
Day 3
We were up bright and early today as we had to get down to the Southern tip of Manhattan (Battery Park) to catch the ferry to Liberty Island. We got down there for 9am, and made it through security, and got on the boat, only to find out that the camera didnt have its battery( ahemm..james) anyways we managed to buy a disposable one so we made do with that. Miss Liberty is soooo much bigger in real life. You are a nobody on that island compared to her. After the Statue, we went back to the hotel to get the camera battery. We then subway'd back down to the southern part and walked Wall Street. For having soo many big buildings and offfices and important stuff it is incredibly small. Wall Street led us to the pier, where we had lunch and then caught a cab up to City Hall. After a quick stop at starbucks to pee we walked the Brooklyn Bridge. Wow its long, and hot, and there are a ton of people on it. We also saw the Justice Building and the New York Court. They are really big. After all that, we headed up to Greenwhich, and visited Washington Square Park, it has a replica of a thing from Paris but i cant remember the name of it. We also walked around the University of New York. Its not what I expected, I thought it would be a couple of really build nice buildings. But it is actually like a bunch of different looking and all different sizes all spread over random blocks. Its nothing special. There is like no campus you just walk into the diff buildings off the sidewalk. We came back to the hotel to cool off in our room with our amazing air conditioner. We went to Shake Shack for dinner, and they have the best burgers i think i have ever had. After dinner we went to Central Park, and went to the Grand Pond with the big fountain, and Strawberry Fields. Then we came back to the hotel, our feet killing us, and pretty much died of heat exhaustion.
Day 4
Today was our first shopping day we woke up and headed down to Chinatown. Wow was that ever a cool but weird experience. People are standing all over the sidewalks yelling out what they are selling, and if u stop and are crazy enough to barter with them you can actually get some good deals. Cant say much about the day though because it may give gifts away. Anywayyysss at 2:45 ish we headed to TCKTS to get tickets for a Broadway Show. We got tickets to Little Mermaid. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The show was done around 10:30, so we walked around Time Square for a bit and then headed back to the hotel.
Day 5
Today we woke up and decided we still wanted to SHOP. So we cashed all of our travelers checks and headed for 5th Avenue. You name it, 5th Ave has it. H&M, Macy's Sak's, Tiffany's, Build A Bear, Ann Taylor, Abercrombie & Fitch, Roxy, Billabong, Element, Quicksilver, Yankees Club House. The shopping part of 5th Ave streches from 34th Street all the way up to 60th. So a good 25 blocks of pure shopping bliss. Needless to say it was amazing. And all of these stores are 2-4 stories. They go underground and up. It's ridiculous and hard to explain or describe, you just have to see it for yourself. After shopping we came back to the hotel and sat in our beautifully AIR CONDITIONED room. its crazy how hot and humid it is here. For dinner we went to Chirping Chicken. We ordered our usual meals, I got chicken fingers/fries/greek salad, he got chicken and ribs and fries. the portions were gigantic, we couldnt eat everything, so a lady came up and asked if she could give our plates to her dog. So sure enough she takes 3 plates from us, puts them on the sidewalk, and her dog is having a 3 course meal. (we were sitting on the sidewalk patio) after she gave our food to her dog, she sat there and ate all of hers. Me and james just pee'd our pants laughing and walked back to the hotel. After our 2nd fantastic day of shopping we are wipped, our feet hurt, and we are gunna rest up for the big day tomorrow. YANKEES JULY 4TH GAME VS TORONTO!
