I'm convinced that the extremely effective and efficient train network is the way to go in Italy! The train from Siena was so easy to catch, great seats, place to plug in device and charge up. It was scheduled to leave at 5.43pm. Guess what? It indeed did leave right on 5.43pm. Clean and conditioned! First class seats only €36 and there were some tickets for less than €20. But, hey, the journey is just under 3 hours so I ain't sardine-ing it! Suppose the only downfall of solo Travel on the train is being conscious of all your bags (mine now amount to 3) and not being as easy to get up and wander. So, all I need to do is sit back, watch Italia pass by and eat my 'Fonzies'!
Hmmmmm!
She turns like a cut snake: Update as I wait on platform 4 at Chiusi Chianciano Terme (what sorta name is that anyway!?)
I was making perfect time and got to the platform to get the connection to Roma. An announcement came over to say it was running 5 minutes late!
20 minutes later I wondered what was happening. So, lugging my 3 bags back down, up and down the subway I got to ticket box to be informed my train was actually 102 minutes late...so, I could wait or change my ticket to the Napoli service coming soon, but heading to Romas other station! Damn! I was ready to be so clever and waltz outta the Termini at Roma to my known hotel!
Oh well! We live and learn. Nothing is without a challenge.
I think I'll be having a few glasses of Chianti on final arrival in my hotel room on arrival! Isn't it fortunate I just happen to have an uncorked bottle of sweet Tuscan Chianti in one of the 3 bags here!?
Salute!
