Today we set off on our way to Bolivia. We decided to stay one day in Copacabana, which is where I am writing this journal entry from. Copacabana is a quiet little lakeside town with not a lot to do. We did visit the Cathedral in the centre of town though (although Kim didn´t quite make it inside on account that the doors creaked open quite spookily as we got to them!). It was quite bizarre to see a handful of cars outside the cathedral with garlands around them and their new owners having a bottle of champagne (having just had their vehicle blessed by the priest) - a kind of "divine insurance" we were told. Very odd!
We´re currently staying in quite a nice hotel (if you can get past all the wires hanging out of the walls and dodgy wired showers, etc) for just $5 a night including breakfast. After dumping our things there we rushed down to the lake to do a spot of peddle-boating only to get washed ashore by the waves. Ah well it was a bit of a laugh!
Anyway, tomorrow we continue our journey into Bolivia to the capital La Paz, where we´ll probably base ourselves for a couple of days before we travel onto Rurre on the edge of the Amazon. We´re going to have to book a trip into the jungle fairly soon though as the rainy season is starting to rear its head!
