Tripping around Australia 2016
Coober Pedy, South Australia
We Hello every one who is on the road doing what we are doing living the dream. We left home Gowrie Junction Qld just outside Toowoomba Qld on the 23rd September 2016 and so far all has went well except we had to buy a new Waeco Fridge frezzer as our old ARB portable fridge died on us.
We spent 2 weeks in Gosford N.S.W vIsting family and my aged mum 92yrs young in a nursing Home at Erina NSW plus we were abele to visit my 2 sisters one whom is located in Erina and the other one who is in a caravan doing what we are doing but staying in Gosford unttil the end of October then onto Maryabourgh Qld until Xmas where they will head back to the central coast.
Ater Gosford ( Bateau bay ) where w stayed at the Blud Lagoon Caravsn Park for 2 weeks a caravan park we would recomend very highly to and body that wishes to stay in tthe Central coast area. Very safe park especially for young familys that wish to stay at the Park.
After our stay in Bateau Bay area we moved onto Dubbo for 7 days a great little city of 40.000 or more people with everthing to offer anyone wishing to settle in Dubbo Whilst we were in Dubbo N.S.W we visited the Great Western Zoo a vey enjoyable day out. We spent a whole day there as it set out on a large parcel of land. T he best thing u can do is drive around the zoo from exhbit to another or ucan walk or pedal etc.
There is very good river system there so if u r into fishing etc you can do just, Yellow belly Murray Cod and of course the rotten old carp.
We stayed at the BIG 4 Caravan park in Dubbo which was worth every cent we paid for our 7 day stay met plenty of nice people plus friends from Toowoomba who we have known for years. Dubbo also has old Goal which is worrth a visit as it a part of Dubbos History. Dubbo is very modern clean city plenty of shopping centres.
After Dubbo we headed off to Broken Hill but stopping over night in Cobar N.S.W which is a small mining Town but sadly lacks a lot shopping etc a small town which seems to going back in Time & progress instead of improving with time . I must say the caravan park was well maintained & clean. We arrived at the Big 4 Caravan Park in Broken Hill in Radowk St.
We stayed 4 night and it was a nice Park met plenty of nice friendly people. We paid a visit to Silvertown which is a ghost town but full of Australian History well worth a visit if you are in the Area, it has old jail there which doubles as Museum full old artifacts & mining machinery, Helen I spent 3 hours there going over all they had to offer plus it only cost us $3 each to view all the Artifacts and history of a times long by but brought back memories of our childhood days etx. Mad max was filmed in Silvertown and there is Museum ther worth visit if u r interested.
I took a lot of photos of the area and a lot of photos of Broken Hill which too is Minning town a very old town with a lot of history to boot. The film Pricilla Queen of the desert, was made in Broken Hill or I should say part of the movie was made their and u can visit the Hotel where is wa filmed,
Broken Hill has not change much since the 1950's it is a very dated city which seems to have stood still in time, with heaps of old miners cottages etc but still a huge producer of Silver lead Zinc & little bit of gold but only employes about 300 people compared to the early days when they used to employe over 3000 odd miners etc. Mainly due to the fact they now have advance in tech knowledge and equipment to extract the minerals from the mine. In total our vist to Brokn Hil is now History which was on my bucket list and we have move on.
We stayed over night in Port Augusta S.A. it was so windy when we arrived we decided a over night stay was all that was required so once again we moved onto Coober Pedy S.A.
On arrival at the Big 4 Caravan Park in Coober Pedy we booked into for 3 nights as we needed a good rest. To my disapproval we were told we had to pay for every drop of water we use whilst we stayed at the park on top of our normal site charges, but I soon realise the extra cost was justified as Cober Pedy has nor natural water resources and water is so preciouse here i Coober Pedy.
As we have arrived at the very end of the busy period no actuall Tours of the area is availble so we are doing our thing until we leave on Monday the 24th October for Uluru ( Ayers Rock ) N. T sO until we move on to next spot its cheerio
Regards & Cheers
