And so Business Class. . .
Our own line to board, so quickly onto the plane and into our seats. As can be expected big comfy seats but unfortunately as there are only three rows of two seats we decided Miss A would sit with me and Phil be across the aisle.
Hot towels and refreshments and we were on our way. Miss A had clearly decided she had had enough sleep and was wide awake and active. Luckily she was able to move between us all and our hostie was awesome with her
Having spoken to him we were shocked to hear he didn't expect to be kept on when Malaysia Airlines merged. He said his age was likely to mean they wouldn't keep him (he was only in his late 40's) and the younger attendants would get first options. It will be their loss as he was amazing. So very attentive and amazing with Miss A, who finally decided sleep was the option at 2am!! I' m bitterly disappointed that I can't remember his name as I would have written to the airline to praise him. On top of that his belief that 'it will all work out' and 'what will be will be' was kind of inspiring given he had a young family and had to look for a new job.
The food was wonderful and Phil was shocked when I ate the seared tuna, given I am not a fan of raw fish. I think he was more devastated he wasn't getting mine as well! Unfortunately I couldn't eat dessert due to the cream in or on everything but I'm sure they were just as nice.
It turns out reclining the seats to the full is not the best sleeping position as it feels like you are sleeping almost standing. Should have just treated the seat as a recliner chair, I think I would have got a better result although neither Phil or I sleep well on planes anyway.
Dad was lapping it up and had made a new friend in his seat mate, where they chatted and had a few drinks. Although neither of them worked out how to get the movies to work!
I think Mum, Philip and Marie had better luck with the sleep and all too soon it felt like the lights were back on and we were coming into Adelaide.
Whilst the experience was novel, I can't say I would be prepared to pay the extra to travel business class, although if the opportunity to bid and win it again at the lowest price I recon I would have to have a go, especially a long hall flight ;)
Bidding farewell to our amazing hostie we were through immigration and onto the baggage area where you are supposed to get your bags first out in Business Class but not in our case. Philip and Marie's were out quickly and we bid them goodbye while waiting and waiting and waiting for ours. I think ours were almost the last off, but it could have been worse. An entire load of bags from the flight from Bali had been left on the tarmac in Bali and there were some suitably upset people around us.
Quickly through customs once we had our bags, we are pretty much old hands at that part and we were back in Adelaide, into the shock of about 6 degrees.
Other than the temperature it was good to be home.
After 10 days, three countries and a lot of new experiences it had come to an end. All too very soon but we will be back.
