Arrival, Nov. 24th: Im in Austria! I arrived at 10 A.M. It was an hour flight, told it was short. It is about 45°F. I picked up my rental car, this car was awesome( red and smallish) I drove straight to my hotel to check in and toss my luggage into my room. I am staying at the Sofitel Vienna Stephandsdom hotel in Vienna. I also stopped to get my Euros (austrian currency). Why Austria: I choose Austria for four main reasons. The first reason is that I love music, and many composers lived and preformed here. The second reason is that Austria is beautiful. The third reason is that my dad visited here on a business trip, and he said even though he didn't see much it was amazing. The last reason is I read a very convincing travel magazine. Packing: I packed two long sleeve shirts, two short sleeve shirts, my pink sweatshirt, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of pants, my fuzzy black boots, my blue fleece, my warm pajamas, and my pink tennis shoes.I also packed my toiletries consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and my lotion. Day 1 of 4, Nov. 24: As soon as I got to the hotel I left again. I drove around for a while until I found an exciting tourist spot. I finally stumbled across the Hofburg Imperial Palace, a 13th century castle, it houses many offices of government, it also hold more than 2,600 room, and it is home to the Vienna boys choir. I heard the boys choir from outside and decided to look inside. I also went to St. Augustine's church, it is beautiful (especially the chandeliers), it is small and peaceful, and people play and sing wonderful songs there. I've realized I am great at walking in on the middle of songs. After that I went to lunch. For lunch I had Rinduppe (beef soup) a clear soup with golden color. Then I went hiking around the Alps, the air was fringed. I was exhausted from my hike and my trips from before. I went back to my hotel and sleep, when I woke up it was nearly 7:00pm. I got out of bed and headed to dinner. I ordered Kaisersschmarn soft, fluffy pancake ripped into bites and slightly roasted in a pan, served with stewed plums. Day 2 of 4, Nov. 25th: Today I woke up late and headed straight to the touring, I had no time for breakfast. I wanted to see some animals so I went to the Tiergarten schoenbrunn (Vienna Zoo), there are so many exotic animals here, it was voted the best European Zoo of 2008 and 2010 (it is really big and the exhibits aren't crowded), and it is so pretty and peaceful. My favorite part of the zoo was that the animals were easy to find and look at! Then I went to the food court. I got a hamburger (I had a burger craving). Then I took my travels to the deep forests of Austria. I wanted to spot Austrian wildlife! The animals I spotted were elk (or stag), a European brown bear, wild boars, Alpine ferrets, Red squirrel, a variety of fish, and many more animals. Then I went back to the hotel, and I ordered room service for dinner. Day 3 of 4, Nov. 26th: When I woke up I had food still on my dresser from last night. I left the tray outside and went to breakfast. I ordered a Palatschinken pancakes similar to French Crêpes, filled with marmalade, jam, sprinkled with sugar , etc. First I went to the Naturhistorisches museum ( natural history museum), a home for many dinosaur fossils and interesting exhibits, it also holds many large displaces of insects, a holds so much more educational exhibits! Then I went to lunch, I got a Rindsuppe (beef soup). After lunch I went fishing, I got board because no fish were biting. After fishing for 4 hours, I went back to the hotel. I took a shower at an early dinner and went to bed. For dinner I had Marillenknodel a dumpling stuffed with an apricot and covered with streusel and powdered sugar. The dough is made of potatoes. Day 4 of 4, Nov. 27th: I woke up early today so I could sit in bed, watch TV, and drink coffee without having to tour straight away. My last stop was the Scloss Schonbrunn ( Schonbrunn palace), it has 22 rooms that you can use an audio guide on (I had the dearer the ticket, which gives you a slightly bigger tour), it also has a park you can walk around in. Then I went out to the garden and ate the lunch I packed for myself. A turkey sandwich with mustard and lettuce. Then I went to the hotel and packed up most of my luggage. Souvenirs: I bought a snow globe of the Schonbrunn palace. At the museum gift shop I bought a pretty rose quartz necklace. I also bought a mini flag, an Austria shirt (it is basically a red and white shirt), and Austria flag cake (it was super yummy). Departure, Nov. 28th: I am leaving at 6:00 AM. The trip to the airport was okay, but I ran into traffic. The airport was packed full of people. Probably because Thanks Giving was last Thursday. I just realized how tired I was until I sat down at the terminal. The flight is 12 to 13 hours long! I am kind o grouchy though because my flight was canceled so my flight was changed. I will fly to Portugal then I wil ly home. I will get home a 6:00 or 7:00 pm. I am now going home to the USA Goodbye Europe, hello USA
