16 hours to go before we set off on our wee adventure. We will be leaving Auckland International around 9am tomorrow, heading for Beijing.
I have had a quick look to see what we can expect from the weather over there and it is a balmy -1 with snow. It will make a nice change from this indecisive Auckland weather, that can't seem to decide if it is summer or winter!
Krissy is just finishing the last hour of her 5 month contract with Tourism NZ and then there will no doubt be an evening filled with last minute adjustments to her big red suitcase.
It is hard to know quite what to feel at this point. Apprehension would probably sum it up best. Despite months of thorough planning (by Krissy) there is still so much which is unknown. We will pass through a large number of diverse countries in rapid succession. From -1 and snow in China, 30 degrees at below sea level in Dubai to the oxygen starved heights of over 5000m up Mt Everest and finally ending up in the 40 degree tropical heat of South East Asia. Not to forget the windy plains of Mongolia, icy Siberia and the history and grandeur of St Petersburg.
