Finally jet set off to Thailand on a 17 hour flight to bangkok ready for a night in the airport! Not the most comfy we have to say and at this point charlotte's ankles had swollen to somewhat twice the size..but we found a reasonable set of chairs with a couple of friends we met along the way ready for a 6:00 flight to Phuket in the morning. Got to Phuket airport and 'Fat Joe" ( he named himself) convinced us to stay in a 'lovely yet budget' hotel in Phuket town. We were appreciative for anything that wasn't the airport floor! Not the greatest area but have booked a transfer to Koh Phangan to meet with a few friends we met at the airport. It is soo hot here, big change to England. We were repeatedly approached by people commenting on our pale skin. Em found an admirer in a little Thai lady who felt the need to pinch her skin and attach herself to her!

Got up at the crack of dawn to get a taxi to Surat Thani. Waited in the Lobby at 8:15 and waited and waited and waited, and a little more. This is when we discovered that there is a Thai time, roughly 45 minutes later than agreed ( this coincides with Em's time keeping so worked out ok for her!). On the taxi journey our driver crashed into another car knocking the left wing mirror off, the driver shrugged and kept on driving. Pretty much spent the whole day travelling today and then got a ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Phangan. We've learnt our lesson about general prices of things now, we were definately ripped off in the beginning! The ferry was a pretty rocky journey and once we reached the port, quite literally, the driver drove straight into it smashing yet another window to add to the other 7 we went to stay at Great Bay resort. Was a nice resort, however definate signs of photoshop was used on the paddling size pool to make it look somewhat olympian! Met some lovely people and had a nice night chilling on the beach with cocktail in hand!
